Entrepreneurship is an emotional rollercoaster with cycles of anxiety, euphoria and feelings of isolation all rolled into one!
The life of an entrepreneur is very demanding, with no such thing called work life balance. It is more like a series of mad sprints and a gruelling marathon. But entrepreneurship is an amazing way to discover your full potential as a human being!
When you solve a problem you truly care about, your natural talents and passion come together and you are in your element. I stumbled upon an interesting Sanskrit word called अंतः प्रेरणा similar sounding to entrepreneur (derived from the French word ‘entreprendre’ or to undertake). It translates to ‘a deep driving desire or a calling’.
There is no ceiling to how much you can learn, create and impact as an entrepreneur. However, there are no shortcuts and no substitute for old fashioned perseverance and grit if you want to build an enduring organisation. The building blocks are establishing product-market fit, investing in a solid technology team, ensuring business model resilience and building an organisational culture rooted in values and innovation. I also believe that entrepreneurs should pursue a double bottom line - a focus on profitability and social impact.
